Fulton County approves $63,800 in probation grants and acknowledges retention stipend plan

The Fulton County Board of Commissioners unanimously authorized two state grants for the county adult probation department and acknowledged a retention effort proposed by Chief Probation Officer Dan Miller.
At the Dec. 9 meeting, Chief Probation Officer Dan Miller presented a 2025–2026 Intermediate Punishment Treatment Grant totaling $35,000 and a 2025–2026 Continuing County Adult Probation/Parole Grant totaling $28,800. Commissioner Steven L. Wible moved to authorize Commissioner Randy H. Bunch to sign the Intermediate Punishment Treatment Grant; Commissioner Hervey P. Hann moved to authorize Commissioner Bunch to sign the Continuing County Adult Probation/Parole Grant. Both motions were recorded as approved "All in favor."
The board also acknowledged a retention efforts letter from Miller proposing a stipend funded from the monthly supervision fee collected by the probation department. The stipend would be kept in a restricted account and could only be disbursed by the President Judge for use by the Adult Probation Department; the board recorded the acknowledgement but did not adopt a separate ordinance or policy at the meeting.
The motions authorize the county to accept and sign the state grant awards; staff will complete the required grant documents and coordinate any reporting required under state grant terms.
