Planning commission approves multiple consent and public‑hearing items; items go to City Council Sept. 23
Summary
At its Sept. 3 meeting the Edmond Planning Commission approved a lot split at 601 W. Main (DD24‑2), an electric‑easement closing (ES24‑5), a preliminary plat for the Edmond Library and YMCA (PR24‑412), and a commercial site plan for Nightingale Chiropractic (SP24‑6). All approvals were 3–0 and will go to City Council on Sept. 23.
The Edmond Planning Commission on Sept. 3 moved several routine and public‑hearing items forward to City Council with unanimous 3–0 votes.
The commission approved a lot split (DD24‑2) at 601 West Main Street that will create a 6,300‑square‑foot lot and a 7,000‑square‑foot lot with access from Main Street and an improved alley. Staff recommended approval and the item will be before City Council on Sept. 23.
The commission approved ES24‑5, a request by applicant Richard Kennelly to fully close an electric easement at 6725 East Coffee Creek Road. Staff said Edmond Electric had removed facilities and no franchise utilities objected; the item will be forwarded to City Council Sept. 23.
City of Edmond’s preliminary plat for a new Edmond Library and YMCA (PR24‑412) near 15th Street and Interstate 35 was approved after staff said the plat conforms to the approved site plan. Dan O'Neil, representing the Edmond Neighborhood Alliance, expressed support and emphasized the value of a secondary access for nearby hospital operations.
A commercial site plan for Nightingale Chiropractic (SP24‑6), a proposed 3,600‑square‑foot brick and masonry building in the Fairfax Business Park, was approved. Staff said the plan complies with landscaping and facade standards and noted parking and circulation will be provided by the business park.
All five items—minutes approval and the four docketed projects—were recorded as approved by 3–0 votes and will be considered by City Council on Sept. 23 where noted.
