Henderson council approves Little Environments for Nutbush Road waterline project

The Henderson City Council unanimously approved Resolution 20-44 to engage Little Environments PLLC for engineering services on the Nutbush Road 12-inch waterline extension.
City Engineer Clark Thomas said AECOM requested release from the contract because of staffing issues and restrictions posed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Thomas told councilors Little Environments has more experience with underwater installations and has reviewed the project. Rather than boring under the lake or laying pipe across the lakebed (which the Corps disfavors because it can displace water), Little Environments proposed excavating a trench on the lakebed to lay the pipe in a manner that minimizes displacement. Thomas estimated the lake crossing will require about 2,000 to 2,500 feet of pipe.
Council members asked about rebidding and contract release; Thomas and Manager Blackmon said AECOM has been released and that nothing prevents the city from moving forward without rebidding. Council Member Marion B. Williams noted satisfaction that the work can be done under budget. The council approved the resolution and associated budget ordinance unanimously.
