Blackmon said the coffee shop owner offered to provide tables, umbrellas and seating for public use; the area would not be restricted to paying customers and signage would be posted. The manager described the action as a trial to provide additional outdoor seating in downtown.
Council members asked about parking and were told there is on-street parking on Orange Street and other nearby downtown parking within walking distance; the Economic Development Commission parking spaces are reserved only weekday business hours. Council Member Coffey moved to approve the resolution; the motion passed unanimously.
