Committee approves community-event grants — coats, Grand Prix security, library programs and holiday distributions

Councilwoman Durham moved $2,500 to support the Wilmington Grand Prix primarily to fund increased police presence along the race route for safety; the motion passed by voice vote with at least one member recorded as not voting. Councilman Koneko moved a $2,100 grant for the Delaware Institute for Arts and Education to support learning programs in county libraries (Koneko and Councilman Carter each pledged $1,050); that motion also passed. Councilman Street moved $2,500 for the MC 917 Foundation / Monday Club to support holiday community distributions and shared historical context about the organization; that motion passed by voice vote.
Chair Cartier said the grant matrix for the day was concluded and the committee moved on to other business.
