The Capital Metro Board approved acquisition of a small drainage easement needed for construction of the Broadmoor Rail Station.
Julie Barr, program manager for the Broadmoor Rail Station, said Capital Metro is seeking authorization to purchase 0.0239 acre of drainage easement from Orange Stone TG LLC for an amount not to exceed $168,318. Barr said the easement is required to obtain a City of Austin site‑development permit, to convey water away from the railroad tracks and to support work associated with double tracking and a signal house.
Barr said Capital Metro followed the statutory process and obtained two independent appraisals; a third appraisal or review was conducted as part of the property valuation. A board member asked whether nearby landowners had agreed to donate property; Barr replied that a majority had donated or agreed to donate but that this particular easement required payment.
The resolution was moved and seconded and the board approved the purchase by unanimous voice vote as recorded in the transcript segments.
