Crawford County commissioners approve consent agenda, record motions and hold multiple executive sessions

The Crawford County Board of Commissioners on March 3 approved its consent agenda, recorded multiple motions for signing, held several executive sessions and reviewed a schedule of upcoming hearings and bid openings.

The consent agenda (motion 26-101) — including approval of the February 27, 2026 minutes — was approved by a unanimous vote. The county clerk presented motions for signature that were recorded in the minutes (motions 26-93 through 26-100), including items that reference the Noxious Weeds Eradication Progress Report and Management Plan and the purchase of an extended warranty for a 6110M tractor. Several motions also authorized recesses into executive session under K.S.A. 75-4319 for personnel and attorney-client consultation matters; the sessions were recorded and the board reconvened with no action taken other than returning to open session.

Commissioner Carl Wood requested whether a check could be cut that day to Heritage Tractor to pay for the previously approved extended warranty; County Counselor Jim Emerson said no additional paperwork was required as long as a motion had been made. County Clerk Lisa Lusker reminded the board that a special election for the Frontenac City sales tax question was under way and that the board needed to schedule a canvass; Commissioner Tom Moody recommended March 10 at 10:00 AM. The board also listed several future items, including a March 6 presentation by John Copyak of Shasta Power on a solar project and a March 5 Planning and Zoning hearing.
