Extension director to present annual report; committee asks for data on vacant regional crops educator

Pat Wagner, Area Extension Director for Marquette County Extension, told the Extension Education Committee on May 6 that she will present the Extension Annual Report to the county board on May 29, 2025.
The report distribution and board presentation matter because the committee said it needs additional information to decide whether to refill a vacant regional crops educator position. Wagner said she will bring the position description and a report of work completed by the prior incumbent to the committee’s June meeting for members to review.
Wagner also advised the committee that some federal funds have been cut to Extension and other University of Wisconsin divisions; no dollar amounts were provided at the meeting. She noted that Extension staff are participating in a strategic planning process intended to inform future programming and staffing priorities.
The committee set July 9, 2025, for a 2025 Extension Listening Session and asked members to forward names of community participants to Extension staff; the committee said results from that forum will help shape decisions about the regional crops educator vacancy and other programming.
The committee’s next meeting is scheduled for June 10, 2025, when Wagner is expected to present the requested position description and work-report data for further discussion.
