Davis County Commission approves schedule, contracts and grants in final 2025 meeting

The commission approved the 2026 annual meeting schedule and a resolution setting the 2026 chair and vice-chair rotation. Commissioners also approved an incentive agreement with USA BMX for $10,000 (tourism funds) to host the 2026 USA BMX professional national event at Syracuse BMX Park, and a one-year lease for parking stalls adjacent to a dentist's office (transcript reads the lease as for "20, 3 parking stalls" at an amount of $4,333, expiring 12/31/26).
Other approved items included a professional-services agreement with Atlas Technologies for an e-prosecutor initial system assessment ($7,200), a renewal of two library database subscriptions with EBSCO for $15,472.35, and acceptance of a recurring emergency-management grant for $108,000 from the Department of Public Safety Division of Emergency Management. The commission moved and approved the items by voice vote.
Chair Lorraine Kamalu moved approval of the consent agenda (items 12–18). The commission recessed to the Board of Equalization, heard Scott Park present the property-tax register (including 17 appeals and 17 abatements), approved the register, and reconvened.
Motions and voice votes were recorded on the docket for each item; most items were approved without roll-call tallies provided in the meeting transcript. The clerk's office also announced that candidate filing opens Jan. 2 at 8:00 a.m. and introduced a new Candidate Insight application to streamline candidate filings and public access to candidate information.
