Superintendent Marianna Vinson recognized the Lemon Grove Improvement Council, the Lemon Grove Forward Club and the Lemon Grove Lions Club for donating hundreds of backpacks to Lemon Grove students and families at the board’s Oct. 21 meeting.
Amy Fulinara, the district’s Executive Director of Educational Services, presented the district’s 'Cultivating the Genius of Lemon Grove Learners' initiative, describing partnership with Dr. Gholdy Muhammad, targeted training for site and district leaders and the leadership of the Educational Services Department. Fulinara noted that the district received a Golden Bell Award — the first for the district in more than 20 years — and framed the recognition as evidence of progress toward equitable student outcomes.
The board’s public record credits teachers, staff, families and community partners for the achievement. The recognitions were presented during the meeting’s opening functions; no formal motions were required. The meeting record lists public appreciation for the community donations and celebrates the award as a marker of district instructional priorities.
