Lemon Grove board approves environmental clearance and fees for Early Childhood Education Center; appoints CAC representative

The Lemon Grove School District Governing Board unanimously approved an Initial Study/Negative Declaration for a proposed Early Childhood Education Center and related meter fees during its Oct. 8 meeting.
The motion to adopt the Initial Study/Negative Declaration passed on a motion by Board Member Cheryl Robertson, seconded by Board Clerk Yajaira Preciado; the resolution carried with votes recorded in favor from Dr. Javier Ayala, Yajaira Preciado, Cheryl Robertson and Jasmin Smith. The board also approved associated meter fees for the project on a motion by Robertson, seconded by Jasmin Smith; that motion likewise carried unanimously.
In related personnel actions, the board approved an update to the classified management salary schedule affecting the Facilities Project Director position. That motion was made by Jasmin Smith and seconded by Yajaira Preciado and approved unanimously.
The board also appointed Ms. Christina Contreras to a one-year term on the Community Advisory Council (CAC) as the East County Special Education Local Plan Area representative. The appointment was approved on a motion by Cheryl Robertson, seconded by Jasmin Smith, and carried by a unanimous vote.
Superintendent Marianna Vinson reported and recognized AMPS art teachers Alyssa Navapanich and Hannah Lei Kruger earlier in the meeting and presented certificates to student artists named in the agenda.
Board business included informational items such as a Budget Oversight Letter from the San Diego County Office of Education and a risk assessment report; no additional future agenda items were requested. The board reviewed a closed session held earlier in the meeting regarding labor negotiations and personnel matters under Government Code § 54957.6 and § 54957 and reported that no action was taken in closed session.
The consent agenda — covering minutes, personnel reports, warrants, contract renewals and ratifications, several grant award notifications, memoranda of understanding (including with National University and the YMCA of San Diego County), and an out-of-state travel request for the superintendent — was approved by motion of Cheryl Robertson, seconded by Jasmin Smith, and carried unanimously.
There were no public comments during the meeting’s public comment periods. The meeting was adjourned at 7:08 p.m.
