Lemon Grove trustees unanimously approve policies, contracts and board leadership for 2026

The Lemon Grove School District Board of Trustees on Dec. 9 unanimously approved updated and new policies, ratified a contract for digital document archiving and adopted the district’s 2025–26 First Interim Report, while keeping the current slate of board officers in place through Dec. 11, 2026.
Board members voted to approve updated Board Policy and Administrative Regulation 6174 (Education for English Learners) and adopted new Board Policy 4161.9 (Catastrophic Leave Program) along with a related memorandum of understanding. The board also approved a Variable Term Waiver request with a clarified target completion date edited to Feb. 26, 2026.
Trustees approved a contract for digital document archiving and the district’s First Interim Report for 2025–26. The motions were made and seconded by trustees as recorded in the agenda and carried with recorded votes of Dr. Javier Ayala, Antonio Davis, Dorinda Miller, Yajaira Preciado and Jasmin Smith voting yea on each item.
The board adopted the schedule of regular meetings for 2026, approved committee assignments for trustees in 2026, and unanimously approved adoption of meeting information and rules for the coming year. Trustees also voted to keep Dr. Javier Ayala as board president, Yajaira Preciado as vice president and Jasmin Smith as board clerk for the period covering Dec. 9, 2025 through Dec. 11, 2026.
The board approved a recommended process to fill a recent vacancy on the Lemon Grove School District Board of Education using the appointment process rather than a special election. The consent agenda, including multiple personnel and procurement items, was approved; item 7.E (Gifts to the District) had been pulled earlier and was later approved with a special recognition of donations toward the sixth-grade camp.
The board recessed for a closed session that considered personnel matters and public-employee discipline under Government Code § 54957 and reported that no action was taken in closed session. The meeting adjourned at 8:44 p.m.
