McPherson County commissioners reviewed property and vehicle damage from a summer hailstorm and authorized repairs to county buildings and vehicles.
During August meetings commissioners considered multiple bids to repair hail damage affecting the courthouse, garage/shed and fair building. After review they accepted a proposal from Hunt’s Construction to replace damaged roofs, as well as related downspout and gutter repairs. The board also reviewed estimates for concrete sidewalk replacement and other exterior repairs, and approved vehicle repair estimates for a road department pickup and a sheriff’s vehicle; those repairs were reported to be below competitive bidding thresholds.
County officials noted that several windows also required repair; commissioners tasked staff to obtain quotes and to coordinate with vendors. The board approved scheduling and repair work and authorized necessary expenditures tied to insurance settlements. The county will monitor completion of the work and any remaining warranty matters.
Commissioners placed building repairs alongside ongoing road and equipment maintenance in budget workshops held that month.
