The McPherson County Board of Commissioners convened a special meeting Jan. 27 to consider purchasing a replacement semi-tractor for the road department.
Commissioners reviewed a 1998 International 9100 day cab listed by Blue River Trucks, LLC in Hastings and concluded it met county needs. The board approved RESOLUTION #2020-8 to purchase the truck for $17,000 from the McPherson County Inheritance Tax Fund, with planned repayment to the inheritance fund from the Road Fund. Commissioner Carl Rundback moved the resolution, and Commissioner Brett Nason was appointed the designated contact person for the purchase; the motion passed unanimously.
The minutes record one public attendee, Jill McNutt, and note the board’s intent that the road fund make the repayment. The purchase aims to replace a Mack truck that was no longer in service and restore county hauling capacity for road maintenance and material transport.
The board adjourned after the single-item agenda, scheduling the next regular meeting for Feb. 12, 2020.
