County earmarks ARPA funds for ambulance lift and radio gear, accepts low bid for generators

The McPherson County Board of Commissioners allocated American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds for emergency equipment, approving purchases for an ambulance power-load and replacement radio equipment that county officials said are critical to EMS and communications.
In March commissioners adopted resolutions authorizing the ambulance lift and radio purchases (recorded as Res. 2022-27 and Res. 2022-28 in March minutes). Earlier in the spring the board reviewed price quotes and designated approximately $67,300 of ARPA funds to purchase radio equipment and an ambulance power-load, with purchases to proceed after the Department of Treasury Final Rule became effective April 1, 2022.
The minutes list FYR‑TEK as the ambulance-lift vendor (ambulance lift entry recorded as FYR‑TEK — $22,594.19) and Platte Valley Communications for radio equipment quotes. On Sept. 14 the board reviewed bids for three emergency generators and accepted the low bid from K&S Electric dba Halls Electric & Services for $34,216.08, to be paid from ARPA funds; commissioners also agreed to declare the large generator behind the courthouse surplus to facilitate replacement and installation.
The board instructed staff to prepare the necessary resolutions and contracts and to ensure purchases comply with state procurement statutes where applicable. The minutes also record clerks' and attorney notes about statutory bid thresholds and determinations for noncompetitive purchases in earlier discussions.
