The board accepted a quote from DTI Trucks (Denver) and authorized payment from the county Inheritance Fund; the board directed repayment to that fund from the Road Fund over seven years at 0 percent interest.
The action follows earlier attempts to procure a truck via sealed bids (one bid was previously opened and rejected as not meeting specifications). At prior meetings the board had declared the county’s 1998 Freightliner dump truck and four V-plows surplus and directed sale on Big Iron; that surplus declaration and advertising for sealed bids preceded the May purchase decision.
Highway Superintendent Tom Werblow had been tasked to prepare truck specifications and the commissioners discussed applying for grants to assist with purchase costs in prior meetings. The May 15 motion approved Claim #24050052 for $132,999.00 and recorded the funding and repayment plan. The board voted unanimously.
Procurement details: the purchase was authorized as a single-vendor acceptance of a quote after prior invited bids produced no acceptable offers. The county will track repayment to the Inheritance Fund through annual Road Fund transfers under terms approved by the board.
