McPherson County approves claims, two appointments and several purchases

At its Feb. 11 meeting the McPherson County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved payroll and multiple vendor claims, authorized two board appointments and approved several county purchases.
Actions the board approved included: approval of the meeting minutes and presented claims and payroll (general, road and fair funds); appointment of Sheriff Lawrence Stump to the Fair Board for the remainder of a term ending in 2027; appointment of Karen Haller to the Planning Board for a three-year term ending in 2029; and adoption of the February Road Plan as presented.
The board also approved equipment and facility purchases. It approved an Al’s Lock & Safe estimate of $4,149.88 for cameras and monitors for the courthouse and fair building, to be paid from the remaining Childers Grant Fund and the Local Assistance and Tribal Consistency Fund. The board separately approved an Al’s Lock & Safe estimate of $1,336.00 for cameras and a monitoring system at the Ringgold dumpsters, paid from the Local Assistance and Tribal Consistency Fund. Commissioners approved purchase of a roll-off dumpster with lid for $9,500 to be paid from the Local Assistance and Tribal Consistency Fund. The county additionally purchased informational signage for Tryon and Ringgold dumpster sites.
Commissioner Brett Nason presented an advertisement for a flatbed trailer; he said he would contact the seller and, if necessary, a special meeting is scheduled for 9:00 AM on Feb. 18 to consider the purchase with notice posted in Tryon. The board also held a short safety meeting at which Highway Superintendent Tom Werblow distributed materials on hoist and chain hoist safety.
All recorded motions in the minutes passed unanimously with Commissioners John Bryant, Jeff Arensdorf and Brett Nason voting Aye. The board adjourned at 11:00 AM; its next regular meeting is scheduled for March 11, 2026.
