Travel Bureau unveils trail-reporting form as state agencies hire seasonals and OHV rules change

AnnDee Mead, representing the Travel Bureau, presented a draft Google form designed for trail reporting that includes a shareable QR code, location input, optional photo uploads and optional personal contact information. The form is intended to capture motorized and nonmotorized trail issues and help prioritize projects.
Committee members suggested adding language to disclose that projects are prioritized by need and that fixes may not be immediate; Jaydon and others provided technical feedback on form questions. AnnDee said the Travel Board will approve funding for the trails grant the committee administers in next week’s meeting, and she described plans to create seasonal jobs focused on updating Arapeen Trail signage.
Separately, state agencies reported hiring needs and policy changes. Wade reported state trail crews are hiring seasonals for Richfield and Cedar City areas and noted changes to OHV registration rules effective July 2025 that introduce a 'street-legal OHV' registration option; the committee discussed where OHV fees are allocated (trail crews, mitigation, law enforcement) and noted a decline in OHV registrations.
Tifnie announced local events and campsite improvements, and Drew described completed work on a permanent camping area and efforts to mitigate illegal off-roading with the BLM.
The committee discussed using the Travel Bureau form and social media to prioritize responsible recreation messaging and to route reports to the appropriate agencies.
