Commissioners appoint boards, approve tax-appeals members and set off-site Health Board attendance

During the Dec. 4 meeting, the Big Horn County commissioners handled several personnel and procedural items by unanimous vote.
On a petition to make 40 Mile Colony Road a county road, Commissioner Larry Vandersloot moved to appoint Commissioner George Real Bird III, Road Superintendent AJ Espinoza and Chris Kosine to serve on a board of viewers; Commissioner Real Bird seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
The board also appointed Dan Kem, Vic Uffleman, Sue Riley, Bill Hodges and Quincy Dabney to the Tax Appeals Board; Commissioner Vandersloot moved the appointment, Commissioner Real Bird seconded, and the motion passed unanimously. Deputy County Attorney Heather M. Ready will work with the new appeals board.
Finally, the commission adopted Resolution 2025-41, which provides notice that a quorum of the Board of County Commissioners will attend the Health Board meeting on Dec. 12, 2025 at the Big Horn Center (210 N Mitchell, Hardin). The resolution cites Montana law for posting requirements and directs county staff to post notice in conformity with statute.
