Fulton County approves HR manual change and grants veterans director full-time status

The board met with HR Administrator Mary Huston to review potential changes to Section 212 "Employee Benefits." Commissioners asked Huston to return with revised language for formal approval; later in the meeting, Commissioner Steven L. Wible moved to accept Huston's proposal to amend Section 212 and the motion passed unanimously.
Separately, the commissioners approved a motion by Commissioner Hervey P. Hann to designate Veteran Affairs Director Richard Newman to work the equivalent of 30 hours per week, qualifying him as a full-time employee with benefits because of added duties assigned by the state related to the Disabled Veterans Real Estate Tax Exemption. The minutes record the motion as passing unanimously and direct Veterans Affairs and payroll staff to update records accordingly.
The HR change and the veterans director status both move to administrative implementation steps: Huston will return with finalized wording for the manual and Veterans Affairs will update payroll and benefits records to reflect the new status.
