Fulton County proclaims March 2026 as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

Fulton County commissioners on Feb. 24 signed a proclamation declaring March 2026 as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month and urged citizens to recognize the contributions of people with disabilities.
On a motion by Commissioner Hervey P. Hann, the board approved the proclamation, which reads in part that it proclaims "March 2026 as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month and do commend this observance to all of our citizens and recognize that Fulton County becomes a better place when people with and without disabilities come together to form strong, diverse communities, and knowing we are all One World, many Abilities!" Commissioners and attendees posed for a group photograph after the signing.
Representatives from local providers and advocacy groups attended the signing, including Marissa Hockenberry (Occupational Services Inc.), Erica Ramsey (CRI), Rebecca Weaver (Franklin/Fulton IDD Program Specialist), staff and residents from Full Circle Residence, multiple representatives of The Arc of Franklin/Fulton Counties, consumer Logan Crouse, and county Human Services staff. Chief Clerk Stacey M. Shives was present and assisted with the proclamation paperwork.
The approval was recorded as unanimous. The proclamation encourages local recognition and events during March; no additional formal actions or funding allocations were recorded in the meeting minutes related to the proclamation.
