Council approves street closure for Bearded Axe Brewery grand opening

"They are requesting to close the streets, from 10AM until 8PM and have bounce houses and other kids fun out there as well as serving food and drinks from the brewery itself," staff said. The plan preserves access on North 7th for parking and circulation. The police department requested two off-duty officers (one on each side of the location) for traffic and safety control.
Councilmembers asked whether the city charges beyond the $50 permit fee when off-duty officers are required. Staff replied the officers would be paid by the event (off-duty officers hired by the applicant).
Councilman Sheffield moved to approve the permit; Councilman Mormon seconded the motion. The council approved the permit 5–0; the record shows Councilwoman Hammons stepped out and was recused for this item.
Staff said logistics such as exact street closure details and coordination with the police will follow through the event-permit process.
