Council approves SUP for motor vehicle repair garage at 287 Business Park

Senior Planner Daniel Humbert presented revisions to an ordinance to grant a specific-use permit (SUP) allowing a major motor vehicle repair garage at Lot 2, Block A, Midlothian 287 Business Park. He told the council staff had tailored the use definition and proposed a five-vehicle, 72-hour allowance for on-site parking of serviced vehicles.
"This item is for an SUP to allow a major motor vehicle garage in a property zoned commercial," Daniel Humbert said, noting the Planning & Zoning Commission recommended approval 7–0 and staff received no objections from property owners within 200 feet.
The applicant's civil consultant, Lindsey Mayer of Dynamic Engineering, said the applicant was available to answer questions and thanked staff and council for the opportunity to revise the ordinance.
With no public speakers, the council closed the hearing (motion by Councilman Weaver, seconded by Councilman Rogers) and then moved to approve the SUP. A motion to approve as presented was made by Councilman Mormon and seconded by Councilman Weaver; the item passed 6–0.
The council recorded that the revisions addressed prior concerns about overnight storage and the new language allows up to five vehicles to be stored on-site for up to 72 hours outside of business hours. No additional conditions or amendments were recorded in the meeting minutes.
