Montrose County planning commission continues Ranger Ranch campground hearing to July 24

The Montrose County Planning Commission voted unanimously to continue the public hearing on the Ranger Ranch Campground special-use permit (SU22-003) to the July 24 planning commission meeting at the applicant’s request.
Staff member Talmadge told the commission the applicant asked for another month to coordinate with a transportation engineer and to provide additional information in response to road-and-bridge and fire-district concerns. "The applicant has requested that this item be continued another month," Talmadge said during the briefing.
Commission discussion focused on what additional materials staff and the commission would need at the next meeting. Chair noted written public comment had already been received and that verbal public comment had been closed at the end of May, but the hearing itself remained open because it had not been formally closed. Commissioner Jim Walsh moved to continue the item to July 24 at the applicant’s request; the motion was seconded and the commission approved the continuance unanimously.
By continuing the item the commission allowed staff more time to solicit any outstanding responses from the Bureau of Land Management and for the applicant to deliver engineering data the county asked for. The continuance does not change the county’s procedural schedule; any final recommendation on SU22-003 will be forwarded to the Board of County Commissioners after the planning commission takes a final recommendation.
What happens next: the applicant is expected to bring updated engineering information and any agency responses at the July 24 planning commission meeting; the commission will then determine whether to forward a recommendation to the Board of County Commissioners.
