Midlothian planning commission elects officers, approves consent agenda and plats

The City of Midlothian Planning and Zoning Commission opened its January meeting, elected Lee Skinner as chair and Jackie McDonald as vice chair, and approved routine consent items including minutes and several plats.
Chair (speaker 2) called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and explained the rules for citizen comments under the Texas Open Meetings Act. Nominations for chair and vice chair were made and both officers were elected by unanimous votes recorded in the meeting record.
The commission then considered the consent agenda, which included approval of minutes from the Dec. 16, 2025 meeting and final and preliminary plats for Main Street Town Crossing Phase 1, Redden Farms, and Onward Subdivision. Commissioners asked whether any items needed to be pulled; Item 8 was pulled for separate consideration and subsequently approved after discussion. The remaining consent items passed on a recorded vote.
The meeting moved on to a series of public hearings covering rezoning, planned‑development amendments and specific‑use permits. Several items carried more extended discussion and public comment; those substantive topics are covered in separate articles.
