The grant is reimbursement-based (staff said 75 percent reimbursement is typical), and an awarded project would require a 25-year maintenance commitment for the boat-launch facilities. Applications are due Feb. 1 and awards are announced in May; staff noted the city currently does not have funds set aside to cover the upfront costs and would bring a resolution later to certify match dollars if the council directs proceeding.
Staff emphasized this would not halt the current bidding process for Lakeshore Park; the city could withdraw an application if municipal bids prove favorable or proceed with grant reimbursement if awarded. Council members expressed support for pursuing the opportunity and directed staff to move forward with application preparations.
