Resolutions adopted included: • R26-025 honoring the life and legacy of Marcelia Teal Petty, a longtime community leader who served on New Castle City Council and as a civic liaison; members praised her years of service (roll recorded: 12 yes, 1 absent). • R26-027 honoring Detective Christopher Scrobot, a member of New Castle County Police who died Feb. 5; colleagues noted his service to the police and Claymont Fire Company and encouraged attendance at visitation (roll recorded: 12 yes, 1 absent). • R26-028 recognizing Sandra Smithers for mentoring educators and founding the Newcastle Prevention Coalition; the council celebrated her leadership during Black History Month (roll recorded: 12 yes, 1 absent). • R26-029 honoring the Monday Club for its long history and community work; council members recounted personal family ties to the organization (roll recorded: 12 yes, 1 absent).
After the votes, the council conducted a public comment period and then adjourned the meeting on a unanimous voice vote.
