Board spotlights Huntington Place Elementary; honors state and national student achievements

At the Oct. 7 meeting the board recognized Hillcrest CTE student Jackson Baker for state and national heavy-equipment competition results, honored Northside High FBLA winners Ty Stripling and Bella Colburn, and heard a Huntington Place Elementary presentation from Assistant Principal Tiffany Turner.
The Tuscaloosa County Board of Education recognized student achievements and spotlighted Huntington Place Elementary during its Oct. 7 meeting.
Jackson Baker, a Hillcrest High School career and technical education student, was recognized after being named the state champion in heavy equipment and finishing sixth nationally at the competition in Atlanta. Representatives from the Alabama Community College System and Shelton State attended the meeting on his behalf.
The board also recognized Northside High School FBLA members Ty Stripling and Bella Colburn. Stripling, a senior who serves as Northside FBLA president, placed first in Alabama and fourth nationally in the FBLA "Annual Business Report" competition. Colburn was selected as a member of the 2025–2026 FBLA State Leadership Council.
Huntington Place Elementary was the meeting’s featured school spotlight. Tiffany Turner, the school’s assistant principal, gave a presentation and closed with a brief video illustrating school activities and achievements.
The recognitions were part of a broader agenda that included routine approvals and contract votes. The meeting was adjourned at 5:58 p.m.
