Board, acting as Regional Rail Authority, clears consultant work for two Dakota Rail bridges

The Carver County Board briefly convened as the Carver County Regional Rail Authority on Feb. 17 to approve consulting services for two planned bridge replacements on the west end of the Dakota Rail corridor.
Sam Kurtz (staff) told the board that Stonebrook has been selected to provide design and engineering services needed to move two scheduled bridge replacements toward construction this year, subject to the normal permitting and seasonal constraints. Commissioners moved to reassess as the Regional Rail Authority to take the consent action, approved the consulting-services request and then adjourned the authority and reconvened as the county board.
Kurtz said tree removals are underway in advance of the construction season and staff expects the work to be performed this year weather permitting. Commissioners had no substantive objections and staff will proceed with contracting and scheduling.
Next steps: staff will finalize consulting contracts and return with scheduling and procurement details as needed.
