Board approves contract revision, NBCT supplements, travel policy clarifications and band uniform bid

At its Nov. 20 meeting, the Jefferson County Board of Education approved several procurement and personnel-related items.

The board revised the advertising agreement with Directional Ad-Vantage Holdings, LLC (Smartlite), increasing the advertising cost from $2,145.00 to $2,535.00 and setting the term from Nov. 24, 2025 to Nov. 20, 2026; the Public Information Department will fund the contract.

The board also awarded Bid #01-26 for Minor High School band uniforms to Demoulin Bros. & Co. for a total extended cost of $79,144.86 for 120 uniforms; the local school band department will fund the purchase.

As part of personnel and policy business, the board approved an update to the Travel Reimbursement Policy to clarify reimbursable parking types and the circumstances under which ride-sharing and taxi expenses (Uber, cabs) will be reimbursed.

On compensation, the board approved payment of the State Department of Education’s National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT) supplements for FY2026. The State will send $6,000 per supplement so employees receive the $5,000 supplement and the estimated $1,000 in associated benefit costs; the State also allocated an additional $5,000 supplement (plus $1,000 benefits) for NBCTs employed in designated high-poverty schools where eligible.

Each of these items was approved by motion and roll-call vote. The motions were presented as part of the consent/agenda items and committee recommendations; there were no recorded dissenting votes among members present.

Next steps: district departments named as funding sources will process contracts and payments under approved terms; the finance office will incorporate NBCT supplements when state funds are received.
