Jefferson County Schools reports $204.4 million general fund balance, approves $38.4 million in November bills and payroll

Chief School Financial Officer Laura Nance reviewed the district’s November 2025 financial statement at the Dec. 11 board meeting and reported a General Fund balance of $204,420,682.69, Special Revenues of $31,888,915.01, Debt Services of $6,851,564.82, Capital Projects of $208,573,847.90 and a Fiduciary Trust of $1,278,281.36.
Nance told the board the system had 5.30 months of reserve and that Ad Valorem tax receipts were up 32.97 percent, noting the amount could adjust. The board then approved November accounts payable of $8,345,904.38 and November payroll of $30,089,953.51 for a combined total of $38,435,857.89. The motion to approve bills and payroll was made by Walter Curry, seconded by Carita Venable and carried unanimously.
The minutes indicate all board and local school bank accounts for November were reconciled as of Dec. 5, 2025. No additional budget reallocations, contingencies or multi-year projections were included in the presented material; any follow-up analysis would be available through the district’s finance committee or in subsequent budget documents.
The Accountability Report for Fiscal Year 2025 was also announced as posted per Code of Alabama 16-6B-7 and will be public on the district website by Dec. 31, 2025.
