St. Clair County Schools board unanimously approves calendar, personnel items and $96,000 roof contract

The St. Clair County Schools board unanimously approved several administrative and operational items at its Dec. 16 meeting, including the 2026–2027 school calendar, combined personnel actions and job descriptions, a special-education contract, and a $96,000 contract for the Ragland Elementary roof replacement.
On a motion by Mr. Randy Thompson and a second from Mr. Bill Morris, the board approved the 2026–2027 school calendar. Separately, Mrs. Nickie Stevens VanPelt moved to approve the consent agenda — which included minutes, December fixed asset dispositions, facility-use requests for Saints Youth Athletics through Feb. 13, 2026, travel for the Ashville baseball team (Mar. 27–28, 2026) and Virtual Prep Academy faculty (Jan. 11–14, 2026), and a Special Education contract with Linda C. Godsey (Jan. 12–May 22, 2026) — and Ms. Allison Gray seconded; the consent agenda passed unanimously.
The board also approved personnel actions and adopted job descriptions for a Central Office Bookkeeper/Administrative Assistant and an Instructional Aide after Ms. Gray moved the bundled vote and Mrs. VanPelt seconded. For capital work, Mr. Bogie Lovell moved and Ms. Gray seconded the bid award of Architect Job No. 25-71 — Ragland Elementary Roof Replacement — to Advanced Roofing Solutions, LLC, the lowest bidder, for $96,000; the motion passed unanimously.
CSFO Danielle Pope presented the financial reports, including the bank reconciliation, during the meeting. The board announced its next meeting for Jan. 27, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the Ashville High School Library.
