The Prosper Town Council on Nov. 25 approved authorization for the town manager to execute documents to purchase park playground equipment from Park Play and Park Structures for $2,057,989.85 as part of a joint project with the Prosper Economic Development Corporation (EDC).
"This is a joint project...so it is jointly funded by both the town of Prosper and the EDC," Chuck Ewing, who presented the item, said. Ewing told the council the total joint funding for the regional park is $3,000,000 and that the equipment contract is just over $2,000,000; remaining funds will be used for construction, which he estimated at just over $1,000,000. He said the exact location is still being finalized and expected to be settled within 30 to 45 days, with construction to begin after the new year.
A councilmember moved to approve the purchase and the motion passed unanimously. Representatives from Marketplace Structures and Park Play were present for the meeting, Ewing said.
The presenter described the facility as a regional, all‑abilities park intended to serve people with special needs and residents of all ages. The council did not attach a site selection vote that evening; staff will return with location details and construction timelines as the project moves forward.
