Walker Elementary spotlit; board recognizes National School Counseling Week

At the Feb. 2 meeting Dr. Bray read a proclamation declaring Feb. 2–6, 2026, National School Counseling Week; Jackie Hudgins, Director of Accountability, and counselors from several district schools attended. The minutes state the Tuscaloosa County Schools currently employ 48 school counselors, including Career Tech counselors.
Walker Elementary was presented in the school spotlight. Principal Amanda Wolfe attended with Choir Teacher Jenna Brown. Brown thanked the board for providing the choir teaching position and said 752 students participate weekly in choir; the students are known as the 'Walker Melody Makers.'
The recognition and spotlight are recorded as special presentation and school-spotlight agenda items; no board action was required.
