Nelson County names Nathan Parks as county auditor; board approves transition help and recognizes interim staff

Nathan Parks was approved as Nelson County auditor on Nov. 3, 2022, with a start date of Monday, Nov. 14, the county commissioners announced. The motion to hire Parks was moved by Commissioner Maynard Loibl and seconded by Commissioner Cody Johnson; on a roll call vote all members voted yes.
The board voted to pay Samantha Larson, Griggs County Auditor, $30 per hour plus mileage to assist during the Nelson County auditor transition. Commissioners said the temporary assistance will help ensure continuity in the office while the new auditor assumes duties.
Commissioner Cody Johnson presented Chairman Nancy Marquart with a commemorative badge from the Lake Region Law Enforcement Center in recognition of her years of service. Commissioners also expressed appreciation to Robyn Ward and Lori Schuh for their efforts keeping the auditor’s office running during the recent transition. The board approved payment of the bills listed in the meeting packet and denied a homestead credit abatement for parcel 21-0001-46127-000 for tax years 2020 and 2021.
