Nelson County commissioners approve routine purchases, abatement and appointments

Nelson County Commissioners on Feb. 21 approved several routine items, including a technology purchase for the Auditor's Office, a tax abatement, a vehicle trade and purchase for the sheriff’s office pending any other bids, appointments to interview engineering firms for a road project, and authorization to pay bills.

Nathan Parks presented quotes for two desktop computers and a laptop with docking station for the Auditor's Office; Commissioner Cameron Swenson moved and Commissioner Aaron Mork seconded a motion to purchase the equipment for $5,107.83. The motion passed on a roll-call vote with all members voting "Yes."

Michelle Linstad provided an update on Tax Director business, and the board approved an abatement for parcel 21-0003-46663100 after a motion by Commissioner Steve Forde and a second from Commissioner Mike Haugland; the motion carried unanimously.

Kurt Schwind provided a sheriff’s office update. The board approved the trade and purchase of a 2019 F-150 pending no other bids submitted (motion by Commissioner Steve Forde, seconded by Commissioner Aaron Mork); the vote was unanimous. Commissioner Swenson moved and Commissioner Haugland seconded to appoint Commissioners Aaron Mork and Cody Johnson to interview engineering firms for the chip seal and sealcoat project on County Roads 35 and 18; that motion passed unanimously. Commissioners also moved to pay bills to be listed at the second meeting of the month; the motion passed on a roll call vote.

The Law Enforcement Center joint powers agreement was presented for review and tabled until the next meeting. There were no public comments recorded.
