The Lee County Board of Education recognized National Board Certified teachers and named the district’s Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year at its Feb. 10 regular meeting in Opelika.
Laura Crowe, East Alabama Regional Inservice Center Director of Curriculum and Teaching, announced three Lee County educators who have maintained National Board certification: Amy Skoglund of Smiths Station Junior High, Pepper Dellinger of Loachapoka Elementary and High, and Jessica Campbell of Beulah Elementary School. Crowe presented the recognitions during the board’s honors segment.
The board also named Leonna Smith-Campbell of Loachapoka Elementary School as Lee County Schools Elementary Teacher of the Year and Shane Lake of Beauregard High School as the Secondary Teacher of the Year. The minutes list additional honored teachers from across the district, including Candy Crance, Kerri Abney, Adrienne Brown, Jon McGowan, Amber Boswell, Lisa Johnston, Brittini Clements, Michael Barnhill, Christina Lynch, Kimberly Duke and Haley Hall.
Board President Dr. Rusty Courson and district leaders recorded the recognitions in the official minutes; the board took no formal vote on the honors, which were presented as acknowledgements. The recognitions reflect the district’s stated mission to prepare students to reach their full potential in education and life.
The board did not schedule further action on these recognitions; they appear in the minutes as formal acknowledgements of staff accomplishments.
