Town awards Parvin Park contract to Home Run Construction; bid comes in well under estimate

Kurt Bauharts, park development staff, told the board that Parvin Park was bid and awarded to Home Run Construction and that the winning bid was substantially below the town’s initial estimate.
Bauharts said the contract "came in at about half what we thought it was," producing large savings in the project budget. He said the town is holding approximately $400,000 as retainage and that some of the unspent funds will be allocated toward a pavilion at Raymond Community Park. Bauharts described Parvin Park as a small neighborhood park on Broadway between Church and Parvin Street with a loop trail, a small playground, a picnic pavilion design inspired by nearby grain‑bin structures, a drinking fountain and a few parking spaces.
Bauharts said permitting is underway and the town hopes to break ground within the next couple of weeks. He identified Randy Breeding as the project manager for Parvin Park.
The board did not take a formal vote on Parvin Park at the Feb. 12 meeting; staff reported awards and budgeting details for member awareness.
