Chair David Jackson moved and the board voted to enter a closed session under the Open Meetings Act, Public Act 267 of 1976, section 8(c), for strategy and negotiation related to a collective bargaining agreement; the board recessed into closed session at 9:57 a.m. and reconvened at 10:28 a.m. After returning, the board moved (Smelker/Getty) to ratify the total tentative agreement previously ratified by the GELC Barry County Corrections Division and authorized the board chair to sign the successor collective bargaining agreement upon approval as to form by the county attorney; the vote was 8-0.
The ratification completes the board-level approval process pending final attorney review and signature. The board did not discuss contract terms in open session during these minutes; the record shows only the closed-session authorization and the subsequent ratification motion and vote.
