"I really just want to get to know everybody here within this first few months and see what everybody thinks this county needs and what they're interested in," Forster said, describing a focus on creating opportunities for town youth who do not show animals and on working with schools to create after‑school programming and pipelines into fair competition.
Forster detailed her agricultural background: she grew up on a family farm in Smithfield, Nebraska, earned a bachelor's degree and is finishing a master's in animal science with a specialization in extension education at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. She said youth outreach through rodeo and livestock judging experience helped prepare her for the role.
Commissioners welcomed Forster and noted community support for 4‑H programs. Brian Cox said Forster has been on the job only a few days and the county looks forward to her participation in local events and coordination with area schools.
Next steps: Forster said she will spend the first months listening to stakeholders and developing programs that include both livestock and static projects; the board encouraged ongoing coordination with county staff for access and scheduling.
