Moody City Council approves festival funding, equipment purchases and adopts pay ordinance

The council approved a $909 service contract for the fingerprint machine, presented by Reece Smith, with a motion from Council Member Matt Morris and a second from Council Member Lynn Taylor; all present voted AYE. The body also approved $4,570 for evidence supplies and storage equipment from vendors U-Line, RMS and Serche (budget code 1-513-4800) on a motion from Council Member Nick Rutledge, seconded by Council Member Linda Crowe; the motion carried unanimously.
Council members approved requests for the city's "Thunder in the Park" event, authorizing vendors and related festival services at a budgeted cost of $19,000 (Festival Expense 01-560-1000). Council Member Nick Rutledge moved to approve the item and Council Member Matt Morris seconded; the motion passed with all AYE votes except Council Member Linda Crowe, who voted NO.
Council Member Lynn Taylor introduced Ordinance M2024-06-24 to set salaries for the mayor, the city council and the mayor pro tempore. Taylor moved to suspend the rules; Nick Rutledge seconded and a roll-call vote was unanimous. Taylor then moved to adopt the ordinance; Rutledge seconded and the ordinance was adopted with all AYE votes except Linda Crowe, who abstained.
Mayor Joe Lee requested and Council approved a $3,000 payment to the Moody Chamber of Commerce to support Oktoberfest, budgeted to Mayor and Council Expense 01-510-1200; Council Member Linda Crowe moved approval, Council Member Ellis Key seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
The meeting record shows the council approved the minutes of June 10, 2024, on a motion by Council Member Matt Morris, seconded by Council Member Ellis Key; all present voted AYE except Council Member Lynn Taylor, who abstained. The minutes were later approved and attested (approved July 8, 2024). The council adjourned at 6:07 p.m.
