Moody City Mayor Joe Lee opened a public hearing on Oct. 14 to consider three land-use items: amendments to the Zoning Ordinance addressing manufactured (mobile) homes and provisions in the A-1 Agricultural, B-2 General Business and B-3 Tourist Commercial districts; an amendment to Ordinance M2020-06-22 to establish a fee to cover processing of Floodplain Permit Applications; and revisions to Appendix A (the preliminary and final plat application form) and related subdivision fees.
City attorney Kyle Barrentine reviewed the three proposals for council members and visitors; the record shows no public questions or objections during the hearing. The council scheduled formal consideration of the items at the regular Moody City Council meeting on Nov. 25, 2024.
Why it matters: the zoning and subdivision rule changes would alter local standards and application procedures for land use and development, while the proposed floodplain-permit fee would assess a charge to offset staff time and resources used to process those permits. The hearing provided the first public airing of technical ordinance references cited by the city: Article VII §12.00 (Regulations Pertaining to Manufactured (Mobile) Homes), Article VI §2.04 (A-1 Agricultural District), Articles VI §§16.02–03 (B-2 General Business District) and §§17.02–03 (B-3 Tourist Commercial District), and the referenced Ordinance M2020-06-22.
Moving forward: no substantive debate or amendment occurred at the Oct. 14 hearing; the council will revisit and may act on the measures at its Nov. 25 meeting at Moody City Hall. The public record notes the hearing was opened at 6:06 p.m. and closed at 6:09 p.m.
