The Moody City Council on Aug. 12 approved a series of budgeted departmental purchases and equipment repairs aimed at routine maintenance and public services.
Council approved up to $5,000 for fire prevention handouts and up to $5,000 for the annual hose-and-ladder test with vendor SEMS; $2,100 for medical supplies from Bound Tree; a $3,000 renewal of the library’s OverDrive e-book and audiobook subscription for July 2024–June 2025; and $1,081 to replace struts on police vehicle No. 362 at Courtesy GMC. The council also voted to declare three older vehicles surplus (a 2010 GMC Terrain and two 2012 Dodge Chargers) and approved repairs and blade purchases for a Massey Ferguson 4710 tractor from Coblentz Equipment at a cost of $2,448.80.
Motions were moved and seconded by council members as recorded in the minutes. For example, Council Member Linda Crowe moved to approve the fire prevention handouts and Council Member Lynn Taylor seconded; the minutes state that all present voted AYE and the motion carried. Similar motions and unanimous aye votes of those present were recorded for the other items.
Why it matters: these items are routine line‑item expenditures that keep city services, emergency response and public resources functioning; most were recorded as budgeted to the listed departmental accounts.
What’s next: the meeting adjourned at 6:16 p.m. with no additional action items noted in the minutes.
