Moody City Council unanimously renews library board appointment, approves hire and alcohol license

Moody — The Moody City Council on Oct. 28, 2024, unanimously approved several routine items, including renewing an appointment to the city library board, moving forward on hiring a part-time code enforcement officer and granting an off-premises alcohol license for a local convenience store, according to the meeting minutes.
The council approved renewing Justin Morris’s appointment to the Doris Stanley Memorial Library Board of Trustees after an agenda item presented by Sara Roberts. Council Member Linda Crowe moved to approve the reappointment, Council Member Lynn Taylor seconded, and all present voted AYE.
The council authorized advertising and hiring for a replacement part-time code enforcement officer to fill a retired position. The request, presented by Reece Smith, was listed as a budgeted item (01-513-0101) with an estimated pay rate of $16.00 per hour; Council Member Matt Morris moved to approve, Council Member Nick Rutledge seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
The council also agreed to postpone the Nov. 11, 2024, meeting (Veterans Day) and reschedule it only at the call of the mayor if necessary. Council Member Lynn Taylor moved to approve the postponement, Council Member Ellis Key seconded, and the vote was unanimous.
On a separate item, the council granted an alcohol license application from Willath Enterprises, LLC, for Moody Texaco, located at 3198 Moody Parkway. The license approved covered 050 — Retail Beer (off premises only) and 070 — Retail Table Wine (off premises only). Council Member Matt Morris moved to approve the license, Council Member Nick Rutledge seconded, and the motion passed by unanimous vote.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Joe Lee at 6:00 p.m. and was closed at 6:06 p.m. The minutes show a signature line indicating approval on Nov. 25, 2024, with Mayor Joe Lee signing and Tracy L. Patterson attesting.
