Angleton council approves multiple Ashland preliminary plats and awards disaster monitoring contract

The Angleton City Council approved three preliminary-plating actions for the large Ashland residential development and moved forward on contract and interlocal matters.
Staff described Section 7B as a preliminary plat of 59 lots with primarily 50-foot lots; the planning commission recommended approval 6–0 after the city engineer—leared minor textual comments, and council approved the preliminary plat. The council also approved Section 9 (103 lots on 26.11 acres) after staff noted nine textual comments were addressed; several council members reiterated long-standing concerns about the overall mix of lot sizes in the Ashland project and asked staff to present the developer—oncept plan at a future meeting so the council can verify promised variety of housing types.
In related business, procurement staff reported that three proposals were received in response to RFP 2025-02 for disaster debris monitoring and management. The selection committee recommended Tetra Tech based on local experience and responsiveness; council voted to award the contract to Tetra Tech. Earlier in the meeting council approved an interlocal agreement with Brazoria County and discussed a separate interlocal to allow county street overlays, which staff said was a procedural step ahead of selecting road segments to be completed.
Council members asked staff to continue tracking parkland-dedication fees and to provide follow-up materials about developer commitments and timing for commercial connections along State Highway 288.
