Taylor council authorizes eminent domain for wastewater easements after executive session

Following a closed executive session Dec. 11, the Taylor City Council returned to open session and voted on four resolutions authorizing the use of eminent domain to acquire permanent and temporary easements for a wastewater project.
The resolutions (R25‑26 through R25‑29) authorize easement acquisitions from the following parcels and owners: Dwight Schmidt and Vicky Schmidt (two permanent easements and one temporary construction easement); TW Ford LP and Tom W. Ford and Wendy Ford (a 0.459‑acre permanent easement as to a life estate); a second TW Ford LP parcel (permanent and temporary construction easements); and Gail Heller (a 1.814‑acre permanent wastewater easement and a 1.658‑acre temporary construction easement). The easement descriptions included acreages and square‑foot dimensions for each parcel.
Council members made motions to authorize the use of eminent domain in each case and voted in favor; in one vote the record showed an abstention/sustain by one member followed by passage with the remaining votes. All measures carried and the mayor announced the meeting adjourned at 9:29 p.m.
