Duluth council approves consent agenda including LMIG grant, police equipment budget and City Manager contract

During the Feb. 9 meeting, the Duluth Mayor and Council approved a consent agenda that bundled routine approvals and budget amendments.
Key items approved included authorization for an encroachment agreement with Knox House Holding LLC to allow repairs and exterior access at the 1908 Knox House; an ordinance to amend the FY26 budget adding $27,255.75 to Police Vehicles from auction proceeds and an insurance settlement; acceptance of a $319,771.07 Local Maintenance Improvement Grant (LMIG) from the Georgia Department of Transportation to fund resurfacing; and allocations of SPLOST funds for landscaping ($50,000) and transportation ($680,000) for small projects.
The Council also approved $56,030 for downtown parking signage to be paid from the Rental Motor Vehicle Tax Fund, authorized the 2026 City Manager employment agreement (increasing severance from four to 12 months), and approved the city's 2026 event calendar and associated waivers. The consent agenda was moved and approved unanimously.
