Taylorsville planning staff schedule public hearings for General Plan update and Station Area Master Plan

Long-range planners told the Taylorsville Planning Commission on Feb. 25 that a public hearing on a comprehensive update to the Taylorsville Municipal General Plan is scheduled for March 11, and a public hearing on the Station Area Master Plan is scheduled for March 25.
Mark McGrath, Long-Range Planner, said the Station Area Plan would be an addendum to the General Plan and recommended the commission consider forwarding both items to the City Council together after the hearings. McGrath said the General Plan is currently advisory; he noted the state legislature was considering whether to change that status.
Commissioner Don Quigley asked whether the General Plan was intended to be advisory or mandatory; McGrath replied that it is advisory at present. Commissioner David Young pointed members to continuing-education opportunities through the Wasatch Front Regional Council.
The Planning Commission will hear both items at their scheduled public hearings and may then vote to forward recommendations to the City Council.
