Fulton County approves $230,699.51 state grant for 911 upgrades and hires a per-diem dispatcher

The Fulton County Board of Commissioners voted Dec. 30 to accept a State Interconnectivity Grant totaling $230,699.51 to support SouthCentral Mountain CAD maintenance, CHE maintenance, ESInet maintenance, Fulton NG911 GIS maintenance, a battery upgrade and Fulton ILEC maintenance projects. EMA/911 Director Brian Barton presented the grant request; Commissioner Steven L. Wible moved to approve and execute the grant agreement and the board approved it unanimously.
Commissioners also approved hiring Troy Wagaman as a per-diem 911 dispatcher pending the completion of required clearances. A brief Salary Board convened at 9:48 a.m. to set the salary for the newly hired dispatcher. HR Administrator Mary Huston participated in the discussion and the hiring vote. The commissioners later entered an executive session for personnel matters and subsequently exited; the board adjourned at 11:15 a.m.
The approved grant is earmarked specifically for the listed maintenance and upgrade projects; commissioners and staff indicated next steps involve grant execution and project scheduling under the EMA/911 office.
