Bay Minette City Council approves payables and three resolutions at July 19 meeting

Mayor Robert A. "Bob" Wills called the meeting to order at 6 p.m., and Councilmember Matt Franklin led the Pledge of Allegiance. The council recognized local youth baseball teams, including the 6U All-Star Team (District 11 champions) and the 12U All-Star Team (state champions advancing to regionals). Mayor Wills also read a card of appreciation from Melissa Byrd with Jenson's Heart of Gold.
The council approved the consent agenda, which included the minutes of the July 6, 2021 city council meeting and work session. Councilmember William Taylor moved to approve the consent agenda; Councilmember Mike Phillips seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
The council then approved payables in the amount of $128,989.79. Mayor Wills asked for approval; Councilmember Matt Franklin moved to approve and Councilmember Mike Phillips seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
The council adopted three resolutions by unanimous vote. Resolution Number 0721-05, "Support and Commitment for a Baldwin County Recycling Cooperative," was moved by Councilmember Pete Sellers and seconded by Councilmember William Taylor. Resolution 0721-06, CB021-04 Disaster Debris Removal and Disposal Services, was moved by Councilmember Mike Phillips and seconded by Councilmember Pete Sellers. Resolution Number 0721-07, concerning Chosen Youth Outreach, was moved by Councilmember William Taylor and seconded by Councilmember Matt Franklin. All three motions were recorded as unanimously carried.
During council/citizens comments, Councilmember Mike Phillips asked whether a new executive director for the North Baldwin Chamber had been selected. Jeff Schmitz stated that Kristina Angelone Pittman was named as the new director.
With no further business, Councilmember William Taylor moved to adjourn; Councilmember Mike Phillips seconded and the motion carried. The minutes were attested by City Clerk Rita Diedtrich.
The council did not record any contested debate, dissenting votes, or formal amendments to the motions during the meeting. No implementation dates or funding breakdowns beyond the approved payables amount were specified in the minutes.
